Tonight’s the Night!

The time has come for true action. I’ve been following trails through police reports, exploring the remotest streets in our city and even gone to the lengths of estimating Justice’s next moves. By the end of the night, dear readers, I shall be bringing you face to face with the masked vigilante himself!

I’ll be taking my trusty JusticeCam and my less-competent accomplice (KIDDING), TheBeeKeeper, in an attempt to catch Justice in the act of… well, justice. One of the many criminals I’ve been keeping tabs on seems to be on the move and I have a rough idea on where he’ll be lurking. Where there is crime there is Justice!

I’m tired of the quick glimpses and and missed opportunities in the past few months. Tonight, I will finally get to see the man behind the mask.

Wish me luck…..

My New Toy

Sony Handycam

I am SO excited to share this new gadget with you all. All this time I’ve been using a bog-standard phone camera to capture my search for Justice. With this piece of equipment (generously donated to me by my good friend TheBeeKeeper), I can finally get that all-important Justice footage.

And who knows – maybe we’ll be watching an interview with Justice in HD!

For all you techies out there, this is a Sony Handycam HDR-CX570 with 20.4 megapixels. I’m sorry, that is all the information I can give. Remind me to ask TheBeeKeeper more about it at a later date. For now I’m itching to take this beauty out on it’s first mission.

Let’s hope we strike gold tomorrow night!

Website Update!

Hi Everyone! Thought you ought to know that my website is on top form right now. I had a little help from my good friend TheBeeKeeper… Okay, maybe a lot of help. As the sightings of Justice have been so frequent of late we’ve had a big job of adding the new content we’ve found and received to the website’s interactive map. Additionally, if you don’t know already, I have a Twitter and Facebook page if you want to be completely up to date with the latest Justice news. The links to these pages have been added to the bottom of my gleaming new website!

Take a look!

Another Sighting of Justice!

After weeks of trying to catch a glimpse of the elusive vigilante, I’ve finally seen him in person.  I’m still unsure whether the video I shot the other week was actually him, it could very well have been someone else, but this time I KNOW it was him!

Annoyingly, it’s not obvious in the pictures, but I actually saw his mask, so I know it was him.  It was just in Greville Park, right by Ashton Gate Stadium.  I’ve done my best to brighten the pictures, and you can definitely see his figure, but you can’t really see the mask.  Hopefully I’ll be able to get a clearer shot of the mask tonight or tomorrow (fingers crossed).IMG_7880 copy

Vigilanteism is Spreading

I have heard of a community in Mexico who has fallen victim to organised crime, and has called on local vigilantes to help drive it out. According to the Mail Online, soldiers appeared to confront the group of vigilantes, but promptly left as the community voted for the vigilantes to stay. This is proof that what society needs right now is faith in a justice system that works. Evidently the officials aren’t up to standard and it’s time for the people to stand up for themselves. These vigilantes in Mexico are part of an organised group as opposed to Justice, who tackles our crime rates single-handedly. No small feat.

A little closer to home, a ‘Paedophile Hunter’ copycat has been arrested for alleged assault of two potential paedophiles. Admittedly, their methods were brutal and in public, but if it deters other predators from meeting underaged children why are we fighting it? Justice’s actions are proof that the method works.

Vigilanteism: Good or Bad Idea?

The increased crime rates and cuts in the public sector have left police forces depleted and overrun. People are becoming increasingly wary about stepping outside their front door, and no-one lets their children out to play on the streets any more. If this carries on as it is, we could be looking at abandoned and neglected cities wasting away. This image of tumbleweed falling across our own city feels so far-fetched, but it isn’t far off. I’ve been searching for not only Justice, but other vigilantes across the world that could be the answer to our crime-ridden streets.

The Paedophile Hunter on 4od
The Paedophile Hunter on 4od

The other week an interesting documentary arose from channel 4 about an vigilante, self nick-named ‘The Paedophile Hunter’. Stinson Hunter (his ‘real name’) baits potential paedophiles by pretending to be underage girls in chat rooms, and arranges to meet up at his house. As the potential paedophile enters the house, Stinson and a group of friends pull out recording equipment and attempt to interview them. As this is happening, they alert the police so as to catch the offender. Compared to Justice’s methods, this seems quite tame and in a lot of cases the paedophile only gets a light punishment. We all know how it would go down in our city.

The Guardian’s review on this documentary was far from positive, with the article titled: “The Paedophile Hunter Review – Dark and Disturbing”

From the phrasing in this article, it can be assumed that author Tim Dowling is thoroughly against the public taking the law into their own hands. An extract from the article highlights exactly what his issues with vigilanteism are.

“The business of vigilante justice makes for an unedifying (albeit gripping) spectacle; the techniques involved, if they skirt the legal definition of entrapment, are certainly morally suspect. And the online humiliation of would-be predators is, frankly, unpardonable.”

I see how he could be worried about the unorthodox methods of vigilanteism, but does he not realise that these offenders deserve this? Our justice system can’t come across as weak as the number of criminals grow day by day.

It’s time to get a little unorthodox with the system!

Another Criminal Taken Down

Last night news broke out that an unnamed criminal had been killed by Justice down at Brunel Lock.  I went down to take a look and managed to sneak a few pictures before being asked to leave by police (they definitely weren’t happy).  From what I understand, the criminal was wanted for armed robbery which resulted in two deaths.

The pictures I took show where the criminal was kicked off the ladder (you can see it was actually kicked off its hinges with some force) and into the river bank below.  The man got stuck and was left there as the river came in, police found his body this morning.

I’m gonna look at getting a zoom lens if I can afford it, don’t think I can keep sneaking on to crime scenes to get photos.

Crime Figures

Today I did some research upon the crime rates before and after Justice’s activity. These figures show that the general crime rate of our city (i.e. stealing, murder, assault and petty crimes) have decreased 5%. This may not seem like much, but from a city with 500,000 inhabitants, Justice’s actions should be duly noted and praised.

Justice Spotting!

Today I traveled near some railway tracks shortly after Justice was spotted at 01:10am, this was after he made a righteous decision to apprehend a criminal and tie him up. The criminal supposedly looted from an old peoples home, which is a despicable act that should face moral circumstances. An issue concerning the police is the fact that the criminal had various cuts and bruises, allegedly caused by Justice; but from all that I know, that is the usual negative fallout of obtaining such a dangerous criminal.

I may have caught my first proper sighting of Justice.  This video I shot on Brandon Hill shows a hooded figure cross my path, then start running.  I tried to keep up, but lost him.  It could very well have been him or could have just as easily been some random person in a hoody, there’s no way of knowing for sure.  I’m going to keep trying to catch sightings of him, hopefully I’ll be able to get some good photos and videos in the near future.
